Legal aid agencies in Philadelphia serve low-income Philadelphians who qualify for legal aid – namely those who live below the poverty line – encompassing more than 25 percent of Philadelphia’s population. For these clients, having the ability to address their interlocking legal matters will be life-changing because they may secure housing, food, education and healthcare assistance, among other critical services. Some organizations provide a diverse range of state-wide legal services through litigation and advocacy. It is anticipated that tens of thousands of people will be served through their work at the EJC.
Philadelphia’s legal aid community is renowned for its collaborative efforts and co-location will ensure continued and closer partnerships. Additional agencies may have a future affiliation with the EJC.
